Gratification

They name is Peel Away 6.

In just a few short hours I went from paint to this:

And finally, to this:

It needs some cleanup, obviously, but this would have taken me a long time with the heat gun thanks to all the nooks and crannies.

In the end I am going to be very glad I decided to strip this paint. And I'm going to keep telling myself that until the last scrap is OFF.

Holy Wow, You did find treasure didn't you? It is going to be so worth all the work *I say as I sit here not stripping paint*

Can you please tell me your method? I see the denatured alcohol, so I know that must play a role in your process. Do you use steel wool or a rag after the Peel Away has done its work? I always use a heat gun; maybe that's why I only ever get things about 40% stripped! I've been following your progress for a while now-- from the selling of items you inherited with the house to acquiring chickens; you're doing a great job!

Susan, after the Peel Away has been scraped as much as I can scrape it, I take a piece of steel wool (0000 fineness) and scrub the wood. Then I put denatured alcohol on another steel wool pad and scrub again. That generally takes care of any paint residue as well as the shellac. It's fairly labor intensive but so far it is working well!

Thank you for saying such nice things about me blog!! :)

Oh, G! It will be so worth it when you're done.
I have pictures up of my house, just for you. Please come see them on my bloggy!

Oh, btw...I didn't have to strip any of this gorgeous wood. I know, you now hate me.
If it makes you feel any better, I did have to strip 2-3 layers of wallpaper from the living room and downstairs bedroom. I decided the dining room paper was just fine. Oh, also, the wallpaper stripping included the wallpaper they had put ON THE $#&%&$^ CEILING! Talk about an arm-breaker.

Come see my blog when you get back online!
Love ya!
